Baggage, Figurative and Literal

Senioritis is not okay the week your thesis is due.

I'm hoping the smoothie (with ENERGY BOOSTER!) that I'm currently sucking down will remedy the situation. It has strawberries and mangos in it. Fruit cures apathy, yes?

And it's strange, because when I've finally come to the project that theoretically I could spend aeons on – the one I'm supposed to pour myself over in the wee hours of the morning, I can't be bothered. It's my defense mechanism in these situations. When I come upon things that are truly momentous, I shrug, get a smoothie, check my email, and try to convince myself I don't give a damn.

I never completely succeed in that endeavor, however.

The room I've found in Jordan to toil in is sunny – or was – and has a nice low desk and rolling chair to chain myself to. Low desks are good. I'm short. I consider the find something of a coup on Easter weekend at Butler. The police department here gets lock-happy over breaks. I can't blame them really, but breaks are when I work the most, and classrooms are where I do it. Only two classrooms were open on the first two floors in JH today. I couldn't believe my luck in finding this one.

It'll get finished, yes? Yes, of course. Just not on time. My head is stuck in May. Graduation beckons. But I do suspect no matter how long I am in school I will carry with me some anxiety about writing. Not entirely sure where that comes from, but it's always been with me.

In other news, this is my soon to be Timbuk2 bag:

Innit pretty? I can't tell you how excited I am. I got another one, a small black backpack/ brief case, as well. I received an excessive Timbuk2 gift certificate for Christmas and it took me 3 months to figure out what to do with it. I have a consumeristic streak when it comes to watches (which I can usually restrain myself around), bicycles (which I can also maintain self-control regarding), snarky graphic t-shirts (on step 11 of the 12 step program), and more recently bags. I think my bag fixation will pass shortly. Though I will soon have 3 back packs (one I've had since 13) and two messengers, and I do realize this is slightly ridiculous. It ends here.

Okay, now I really must get back to work. I've procrastinated long enough. Wish me luck. Send me happy, productive, smoothie-laden thoughts. With mango. Gosh, I like mango.

I REALLY like the colors you ended up going with - they're clean but also kinda retro.

...Now between you and my girlfriend, I am jealous and want a timbuktu messenger bag of my own...

They're pretty much amazing. But a tad expensive, unfortunately. You're birthday is this summer, though, right?
