As it happens, a few friends and I watched a late-night showing of The Planet of the Apes on AMC Friday night. And yesterday I found myself discussing that same movie with my father and grandmother.

My other early childhood crush, Dick Van Dyke, is still living. He had the best hair ever. I was convinced that every man who was any man would have Dick Van Dyke's hair. It's just that fantastic...

Anyway, I don't mean to be flippant. A man did actually die, and an American film icon at that. My respects.
