Realizing that our actions, feelings, and behaviour are the result
of our own images and beliefs gives us the level that psychology
has always needed for changing personality.
-- Maxwell Maltz
For some reason, reading this reminds me of something Winston Churchill once said after he'd been insulted.
If I valued the honourable gentleman's opinion I might get angry.
Too often people don't realize that feelings are a choice. You can always change your perspective. You can always choose whether or not someone else's opinion of you has any impact. Being insulted can hurt, but sometimes not so much after you consider the source.
Understanding that our perceptions of people and events in life are a choice can be life changing. It certainly was for me. I'm a great deal happier now.
The question "Why?" is very powerful, indeed.
