I drove a car for the first time ever today over in the Hinkle Fieldhouse parking lot. Twenty miles per hour, man. Woooo!

You know what the best part was? I didn't kill any of the joggers or hit the police car. A good thing.

Spent about four hours cleaning up my closet this afternoon. I came across a little story I wrote in 4th grade. They'd made us write them in these blank books and illustrate the pages. Mine was called "Sucked In." In a freak accident two children get pulled into a computer game. While there, they battle fierce, fire-throwing robots who can only be defeated if someone jumps on their head (the ray gun didn't work, you see). They eventually escape, of course, and live happily ever after, but I was really surprised how well the whole thing was written. I was a pretty clever 10 year old, if I do say so, myself. It was neat to find that book. Well worth keeping, I think.

I stumbled upon other things of antiquity in that closet of mine, as well. In fifth grade we had to make our own pyramid. I had thrown most of mine out long ago, but I had kept the sarcophagus and the little mummy. Great deal of fun to open that old thing up. Also, there were lots of old pictures (cringe) and action figures among other things from ancient days to rediscover. After great pains, I decided to throw out my folders from sixth grade. I figured that if I hadn't used that stuff in four years, I probably wasn't going to. Strange to see how my handwriting has changed over the years.

All and all, cleaning out the closet was a worthy venture. My back hurts like the dickens and it still feels like there's dust in my eyes, but, hey, I got to take a little trip down memory lane, and I can actually stand inside my closet now. How about that?
