I'm sitting in a darkened house doing nothing again. Not good. Did some weeding (a task that never seems to be finished at our house) yesterday. I neglected to bag all the pulled weeds, however, thinking that I'd finish all that today. The neighbors were working on their lawn this morning and very kindly picked up my mess. I must be sure to thank them. (Guilt, guilt...)

My computer is in a sorry state. I dropped it about two weeks ago. Cracked the corner of the case pretty well. I secured it with some scotch tape until I could get it looked at. Repairing it would be very expensive, it turns out. I had hoped that my friendly neighborhood Apple Store would have some ideas about how to better support it -- the poor thing wobbles in a way God never intended. No luck. The fellow didn't even think I should tape it. "Then it would just looked taped," he'd said. So, the tape comes off and the 'puter comes home.

Not half an hour later, the screen starts acting like it's on acid. Things start freezing, a funky grid pattern takes form, and the colors -- oh, the colors! I restart the thing and back all my data up on my handy-dandy iPod, cursing and praying for divine intervention. Further investigation reveals a little piece of the case had fallen inside the computer. I've taken that out (with more than a little difficulty) and reapplied the scotch tape. It seems to be appeased. The tape may not be fashionable, but it appears to be keeping the inards from wiggling about and the case from falling apart. I can live with being unfashionable; done it all my life.

Raining. Again. Dull, dreary day. Barely over a week until school starts. Amusing self by watching countless Daily Show video clips. Funny stuff.
