Hell Freezes Over

Okay.

I just finised a paper.

I think that's the first time I've ever written a paper the day before it was due.

I've fallen into that mode: the part of my brain that perceives, conceptualizes, interprets, and makes smart-ass comments is in overdrive. This makes me insufferable to have in class. Goofy know-it-alls aren't often received well. I was so high strung today that I distracted myself.

Butler's Undergraduate Research Conference is in a little more than 36 hours. I'm not prepared, but I will be. Here's my abstract:
Henshin: Sex, Gender and Transformation in Ranma 1/2
Ranma ? is an animated series based off the manga of the same name created by Takahashi Rumiko. It follows a young man, Ranma Saotome, with a very unusual curse: contact with cold water transforms him into a girl, and hot water changes him ba ck into a boy. The awkward, comedic, and occasionally disastrous situations brought about by Ranma's sexual transformations are the basis of each episode, although Ranma is far from the only character in the series afflicted with such a curse. Approximately four other regular characters transform when they come into contact with cold water, but their transformations are from human to animal and back, not from male to female, and Ranma's curse is portrayed as being the greater hardship. Metamorphosis is a major theme found in anime, and Ranma 1/2's particular focus on sexual change, gender difference, and ambiguity make it a fruitful site to analyze popular cultural constructions of sex, gender, and sexuality.

My presentation is at noon. Very exciting.

Nice work, there!

You'll make it through the semester yet. With the assistance of your caffeine, apparently! Whatever (almost) it takes.
