King Kong...

... wasn't that great a movie. Even when shown for free at a Butler "drive in". Waaay too long. As my friend Zane likes to say, it was the best two hour movie I've ever seen -- except for the part where it was three.

And I must say, I found the film to be just terribly improbable.

I mean. Really. I'm willing to buy into the whole "Giant Gorilla Captures Girl, Falls in Love, and Then Proceeds to Terrorize New York City" concept. When I sat my blanket-wraped self down on the cold grass and flicked off my shoes I was there. I was completely down with the whole scenario. I was cool with it. I believed. "Bring on the mammoth hominid!", etc. In short, I had prepared to suspend a certain amount of disbelief.

That amount did not include stampeding brontosauri. Or cross species spooning. Enough said.

But! Bundling up on the campus mall late at night and giggling with friends is never a bad thing, and I really did enjoy myself.

THE END!
