Just a note.

I just threw some 150 pages of material on retracting penises into a recycling bin. It was good for my soul. Oddest group project ever.

URC went swimmingly, all things considered. The night before saw the power on most of the campus go out, which caused some technical difficulties. I had actually written about four hundred words on the adventures I had that night, but blogger managed to lose that post for me. Sad story. Sum of events for the curious: ice cream theft, hysterical stories about old women and cross words, hand-writing my presentation by various and progressively dimmer lights, listening to a very inebriated computer science major as he tried to convince me he wasn't gay, preventing said computer science major from spilling alcohol on said hand-written presentation, and gregorian chant. (No lie.)

In any case, I'm not sure I'm exactly happy with the content of my presentation -- I feel like I only scraped the surface of what Ranma really says about sex and gender issues, and honestly, I feel my analysis and conclusions were fairly weak. That said, I had a great time doing it. My main concern going into this thing was that I would get stuck up there with nothing to say, or that my fear of public speaking would get me. This wasn't a problem at all. In fact, I was so comfortable, I was off my script, which probably accounted for why I went so long. I seriously had no idea.

Anyway, that's behind me. I did very little bookish work this weekend. (Who smells summer?) Maggie came down to visit, and visit we did. I spent some time with my mother. We ate too much Chinese food and were glad of it. Unfortunately, I seem to have come down with something. My throat is very unhappy and my sinuses feel like they might burst from the pressure. A nice, long afternoon nap helped. Maybe a good night's sleep will, too.

Kudos on the Ranma presentation! My favorite URC yet, heh. Only to be topped by that ever-so-interesting subject of your group project next year...? ;)

We should all be given a gregorian chant once a week. Lucky!

Hope you're feeling better :)
